MoodTunes

MoodTunes detects how you feel through your camera and creates a Spotify playlist for it. The twist: you choose whether you want music that matches your mood or music that helps you change it.

The idea was mine. I pitched it to my classmates and we built it together as a school project.

I came up with the concept and designed the UI together with a classmate. I handled the frontend styling (playful colors, typography and interactions) and built the Spotify authentication, the API integration and the choice step.

A teammate built the facial emotion detection.

Your current mood isn't always how you want to feel. Someone who feels sad might want uplifting music, so we added a choice step before the playlist is generated.

My main challenge was the Spotify integration and connecting the user's choices to the playlist, while keeping the different screens consistent and easy to follow.

A working prototype that combines facial emotion detection, user preferences and Spotify playlist generation.

I gained experience with external APIs and interactive frontend features. Seeing my own idea turn into a working app was the best part, and it showed me what a team can do when everyone brings different skills.
